The new Magtek iDynamo with Lightning connection is here. Finally, you can use the most secure and respected card reader with all of the new iOS devices. If you ever used a device with the nearly 10 year-old 30-pin connector, you probably realized the chance of disconnection or errors were high. When Apple released the new Lightning connection in late 2012, everyone was relieve to find a more compact and efficient connection. The after-market and accessory companies (including Magtek) had to scramble to get devices updated.
You will find with the new Magtek iDynamo that card-swipe transactions are much more reliable, and this is furthered by the all-digital 8 signal design of the Lightning. More reliable transactions and card reads means faster turn around and happy customers. The rugged design and asthetics of the new iDynamo reader is the same as the prior 30-pin. Integrated charging is done via a micro USB on the bottom of device.
Something we do receommend and see it being a big need, is a proper case or stand for the iDynamo. Although the new Lightning connection is better in everyway, the weakness is the abuse the little connection will have to endure when the iDynamo is plugged in for use. Without a proper support or secure housing to keep it from moving and too much pressure being placed on device, it can surely begin to malfunction and/or break.
